IOOV’s Halloween Ball & Ambassador Contest
As part of Albany’s Halloween Fest, In Our Own Voices (IOOV) is excited to host the 2024 Halloween House Ball! The House Ball draws inspiration from 1980s Ballroom culture where African American and Latin American LGB TGNC youth participated in competitive dance, lip-syncing, and runway walks.
We invite all members of the community to join us for the Halloween Ball and compete for cash prizes. Albany County residents are also invited to participate in the Halloween Ambassador competition!

HALLOWEEN AMBASSADOR COMPETITION
Win a Paid Ambassadorship!
The winner of the Halloween Ambassador Competition will earn a $6000 contract paid throughout the year – including a $500 prize for winning the competition.
In Our Own Voices, Inc. and Discover Albany are seeking a 2024-2025 Halloween Ambassador! This Ambassador will help represent LGBTQ+ Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) in the City of Albany.
The Halloween Ball is open to all, but pageant participants must:
- 18+ and a resident of Albany County
- A dedicated and reliable member of the community
- Interested in and able to work with IOOV for 1 year to plan and organize 1-2 smaller events for the LGBTQ+ BIPOC community.
- Able to represent IOOV at events like BIPOC Pride, Jazz in July, and other IOOV and City of Albany Events from October 2024 – October 2025
- Willing and able to discuss the importance of healthy sexuality, knowing your HIV/HCV Status, Body Positivity, etc.
